One of the most important parts of being a photographer is stepping outside your comfort zone and growing from new experience. If you had told me 10 years ago that I’d be shooting a wedding runway show I would have jumped off the Tobin bridge (Its not as elegant as the Golden Gate Bridge but in MA we made due with it). Nowadays I see opportunity in every situation. I think its because I have a more defined style. I’m not afraid to shoot things how I want to opposed to how people expect you to. There were about 5 or 6 other photographers that were hired for the event. They all pretty much had the same setup, DSLR, on camera flash and telephoto zoom lens. On top of that they were all shooting the exact same thing. To me, this was very strange. Why would you want the exact same shot as 5 other people? I later realized that was because the whole point of the show was to get good solid shots of the wedding dresses (whoops). Personally, I didn’t give a fuck about the dresses, I was much more interested in the girls who wore them. They were awesome. Especially Ashiana, Yulia and Courtney.
